As a police officer for over nine years, I have had my share of physical confrontations dealing with criminals. I always seemed to come out of those dangerous situations in one piece but I always had the feeling of not being fully prepared. When I had the opportunity to become a member of my agencies SWAT team I was sent to find Master Mike Moses by my SWAT commander. My commander is a lifelong student of the art of fighting and made it clear to me the importance of being competent in hand to hand combat. He told me that he could think of no better martial arts instructor than Master Mike Moses.

In early February of 2003 I sought out Master Mike to learn martial arts and began training in the Personal Defense System (PDS) to learn Thai Boxing, self-defense and weapons training. The classes were fun, easy to follow, and effective at improving my skills and physical conditioning. I found myself looking forward to going to the next class to learn more. Over the years my skills, confidence, and self-esteem have grown while training at Evolve.

While my self-defense skills grew, I also discovered that I had found much more than a martial arts academy. I found a family of friends that changed my life forever. I have made friends with many police officers, doctors, lawyers, computer specialist, and every other profession you can imagine. It was like I joined a network of professionals that were eager to share their professional skills with one another!

Now, more than five years later, I cannot imagine my life without my family at Evolve. Master Mike and my close friends are integral parts of my professional and personal life. My stand up skills have flourished under Master Mike’s instruction. In 2006 I was honored to become an instructor and have the opportunity to pass along my knowledge to the new members of Evolve Academy.

I eventually began training in Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts at Evolve. It created a whole new avenue of learning. The core principles in martial arts Master Mike taught me in PDS have allowed me to quickly excel in these new styles. I am always learning new skills at Evolve that continue to help me grow.

Over the years I have promoted the benefits of Evolve Academy and brought in my many of my friends and acquaintances to the school. My six-year-old daughter also trains at Evolve and I am proud to see her grow and learn respect and gain confidence in the kids program.
